Nadeau Corp completes atrium work at UMass Boston

Boston, Ma- Nadeau Corporation Construction Engineering & Development is closing out their Campus Center Atrium Project at UMASS Boston. The Attleboro based general contractor was awarded the project after noise from students in the common areas of the Atrium was flowing into the 2nd and 3rd floor offices causing noise interference between floors and disturbing the administrative staff.

Keller Roughton of Gensler, the architect on job, formulated a solution where Nadeau could add structural framing for concealed window frames behind the drywall and install glass panels in the second and third floor openings of the Campus Center office wing. Placing glass in these 32 openings would ensure reduction of noise transfer, however Nadeau’s team had to overcome the challenge of operating in an occupied space without disrupting ongoing student and office activities.

Nadeau Corporation’s Project Manager David D’Angelo, and superintendent Mark Fahrenholtz, took on the task and delivered.  The project not only met the quality standards of UMASS Boston’s Paul Frazier, but also implemented a safety regiment approved by some of the most scrutinizing organizations in existence to ensure the general public was safe at all times. The renovation project began in January 2013 and will be successfully closed out this August.
